About this product
EBX is an extract from AMÉDÉE, an oak maker near Cognac, France. Selected oak is extracted with reverse osmosis water. This avoids the burnt notes and woody harshness common in heat extraction, and draws out only the aroma that would pass from a barrel.
Vanilla, caramel, spice, fruit, coffee, and similar flavors can be added with precision. For the liquid made for spirits, a typical dosage is 0.02–0.25%. The flavor takes about 3 to 6 months to settle in.
One oak tree ages about 330 hectoliters in barrels. Used as an extract, the same tree can reach up to about 17,500 hectoliters.
